I'm with either doing the 200 from the Borden Bridge Trailhead off hwy33/5. Or the south end of the 200 from the Sipsey Trailhead north to the 209 or stay on the 200 off Hwy 60. Scenery is close but i like the north end of the 200. Big rock cliffs nice little tunnel. Hope i didn't post too late.

HeathC - I'm sitting in my hotel room as I type. Ended up only spending an overnighter at Borden Creek and made the drive half way to the conference I'm headed to so as to not have to rush to hike out and drive then get showered/shaved/presentable tomorrow.

Sorry I missed your post but it was kind of cool for a first solo overnighter.

It was beautiful. Weather wasn't too hot. The bugs weren't bad and it wasn't raining (I didn't zip my bugnet up and didn't set my tarp up either).

There'll be a short trip report forthcoming.

Good deal Tendertoe. Sounds like you had a good night. I love the Sipsey. Can't wait for the report. I have searched the hang threads and cannot find a group hang for Alabama. I've been thinking about organizing one for the Sipsey in the fall. I know you probably wont be able to attend from Buckeye nation, so i guess I'm kind of hacking your thread. Sorry. Glad you had a good time though!

FYI - The size limit for groups in the wilderness area is 10 people max, and the FS has been enforcing it regularly. Given the number of people that have shown up for AL hangs in the past, Sipsey may not be the best place to plan it.

Yessir, and I like that they enforce it. However the Bankhead has some campgrounds (Brushy Lake, etc.) within a stones throw of the Sipsey border. I just said Sipsey for reference. Thank you though for the reminder.

They have also been ticketing horse back riders for being on foot trails. A group was caught riding down the 204 toward Big Tree. A big no no...their rule enforcing is why the Sipsey is so gorgeous.
