Hey guys, I am looking for a quick release knot, or one that is really easy to untie and retie when using tarps. I used to have a print out of the "ray jardine butterfly knot", but seem to have lost it and he only publishes it in one of his books. Any suggestions?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,

Stevebo, the Ray Jardine "Butterfly knot" is a quick release clove hitch. Go ahead and twist your two loops for a standard clove hitch, then make a loop around your pinky with the free end and take the end in between the two loops; insert your peg/stake into the two loops and pull tight. Hope this helps. I use knot frequently and find that it always unties as it should.
The evenk hitch or siberian hitch is a good one for securing the line to the tree. Ray Mears shows it in his videos.

About a week ago I discovered two videos on youtube posted by swissgearlabs and titled Bushcraft Knots Tutorial. Centered on setting up a tarp.
They are quite good with very clear demonstrations of how to tie the knots. All the knots mentioned in the previous responses to this thread are mentioned and demonstrated.
