Guilty. The out-and-back hike was only 5 miles, but it took several hours

Snake road is actually just a colloquialism. It's called Larue Road, in the Pine Hills wilderness within Shawnee NF. There are bluffs on one side and a swamp on the other; fantastic snake habitat.
