Hey everyone. I'm just getting into hammoc camping but I have been doing my research. Im a big guy so I bought a Grand Trunck double person hammock. I have done some mods already like restrung the gathered end with doubled up 550 cord and using better carribeaners. And I made my own tree straps. I been hanging out in the yard testing everything. And it's all going good.
I'm having trouble finding a good material to make a light weight tarp. Im also looking into making a under quilt.
I'm really into making my own gear. Hahaha I have a good knack for injecting thread into gear.

Welcome! Check out the DIY threads. Many start by getting some silnylon to use for a tarp (for example, Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics) and converting an old sleeping bag.

Welcome. You should definitely go to the Spring MAHHA. You're so close and there will be plenty of DIY-ers to talk to and get ideas from. And there's no faster way to learn than attending a big hang like this. Bring your camera. Take pictures of everything. Take notes. We all do it!
