    Hammock cleaning

I have HH ultra-lite and it smells terrible.

Can I put it in the washer? I don't know anything about cleaning this kind of material.

    Thanks

    R

not sure i'd put it in a regular washing machine if you have a front loading machine it might be ok.....maybe a bathtub with detergent and let it sit for a hour our so and rinse good would be the best way

don't use bleach, comes out camo

that's an HH Explorer Ultra-Lite hand washed in hot water with laundry soap and bleach.

i just use a 5 gallon bucket , warm water and laundry soap now.

Throw 1/4 cup, or so, of white vinegar into the wash with the hammock. It won't leave a vinegary smell, but it will take the funk out of the hammock.

I also wash mine in the tub with laundry soap and vinegar. It works. Just make sure to rinse it well or you may get some skin irritation if there is still a ton of soap in the fabric.

I worry about the netting and such snagging in the washer, too, so I don't risk it!

+1. I combined either Woolite or Dreft with a 1/4 cup of white vinegar in a large laundry tub and agitate the hammock by hand. If my hammock is really dirty and funky, I repeat. Then rinse really well and air dry. Works great.

Because it is very effective at removing odors from synthetic materials without costing some ridiculous amount per ounce of cleaner.

White distilled vinegar is a popular household cleanser, effective for killing most mold, bacteria, and germs, due to its level of acidity.
