While waiting for my DangerBird, a load of stuff from Scott @ GIY Gear and some poncho liner from Texas, I figured I would get the White thread injector going.
This White Rotary (model 666) was a dumpster find. I bought an identical White from Kijiji.ca as a spare for parts (this one is in pretty sad shape but had a working foot switch). Most of the accessories were with the machine (the manual came with my spare). I oiled her up, and managed to tune her so she could stich. I figured out how to zig-zag, alter the size of the stich, tune the tension of the threads, feed the bobbin (the manual really helped here and was more then worth the purchase price of the spare).
I still need to mount the beast into a table (she is now sitting on a work bench) and sort out a way to use the switch with my foot (or knee).
I did manage to sew 4 2' length 1/2" seams, and a few tries at french seams. Practice does indeed make perfect (of not so crummy in my case).
I'm a big DIY guy - and love my new power "tool" - much more since I found it in the garbage.
Here is my planned list of MYOG:
-IXUQ (with help from an experienced seamstress)
-Poncho liner TQ
-Tarp with doors and cat cuts (I live and camp in Canada eh..)
-Tarp snakes
-Misc bags
-Hammock (gathered end) for son (initially), daughter and wife (eventually)
-TQ,UQ and tarp for son (and daughter/wife)
Just thought I'd share what I'm looking forward too over the next few months (years?)
Thanks for reading my stream of conscience
