I was getting cold in my RS-1 synthetic in the mid 40's, and after getting the Ultra 1, and laying them side by side, the down one had double the loft, for the same rated bag. In addition the down one is wider, packs smaller, and of course lighter.

I agree with BB58, my older Ultra20 is now my mild weather quilt. The newer ones seem more substantial based on weight.
I liked the Pertex as well. Nice to have it around the head area for condensation from breath too.
I have found in my manny years of camping that most and I say most temps are not true! 20 means 30 and 40 means 50+. Most will disagree but unless everything is kept perfect with down it looses some warmth every couple of years!
High ground is dry ground!

I have the same question but figured these would sell out like the 2011 closeouts did. I pulled the trigger last night on a 1+ long version. The 50% off plus using another 20% coupon was just too much to pass up.
I'm willing to roll the dice based on the few reviews I could find online.
I had a 20* that I parted ways with because it was slightly too short for me (it was a short to be fair). I was very pleased with it. Quite warm down to the advertised temp. But I sleep warm so YMMV.
I actually miss it and may get another now they are so cheap.
I got a couple of 2011 - 1 Season on closeout for $99 a couple weeks ago. I saw yesterday with the coupon I could have gotten the 2012 - 3 season 800 fill down for $120 (rated to 20* with Pertex!).
My new Ultra 3 should be here tomorrow, and I'll compare loft side by side of my current model Ultra 1, new Ultra 3, and previous Ultra 20.
I have been thinking about getting the 1 season. Where are you guys finding a coupon? Any little bit helps.
