    Underground Quilts?

Anyone have some time in with a quilt from Underground Quilts? I was about to get a 3 season set from JRB, but I just came across this site that has 2 things that are quite appealling, lower prices and color options. It seems to be a new site/vendor for the most part. Are they compareable to JRB's? Also, would the full length uq fit the BMBH? It seems like it would but have to ask. Is there any difference to the baffles running the length of the uq as opposed to the width? Do they compress down small?

He's a hanger here in MI. He is making some really nice stuff. I have a tq that I had him make for my daughter. You really can't go wrong with Paul's products.

I have always made my uqs with baffles that go with the length. I feel there could be an issue with down migrating toward the center with the width. Most of the other makers also go length.

I use JRB quilts (two Hudson Rivers). The horizontal baffles let me shake more of the down to the center of the quilt. It's kind of nice.

    Underground UQ

I've got a 40 UQ and a custom 20 UQ on the way. He makes really good stuff and stays In contact with you through whole process.

Paul made me a wide UQ and its great. He even told me that he thought one of his seems was sloppy so he refunded my shipping,(before I even received the quilt) and told me to mail it back at my leisure for him to fix. I looked and looked but could not find any seems that looked like they were not sewn by a futuristic sewing robot.
I would not hesitate to order from him again. He kept me up to date with production the whole way which was nice. Two thumbs way up for him and his gear.

So far we're up to 3 TQ's and 2 UQ's from Paul. Being a newbie I don't have any experience with any other quilts but so far I'm very happy with them. I just did a 3 day hike and it got down to about -2 the one night, although I took a bit to warm up, I was toasty warm through the night with the 20 degree version of both the TQ & UQ.

The one TQ did get a tiny hole while we were in FL and I couldn't get the feathers to stop coming out so I just put a small piece of duct tape over it. I'll sow it up one day but for now the tape is working fine.

I'm thinking of lowering my pack weight in the future and when I do, I'll end up going with their 3/4 UQ and maybe their summer TQ. Paul was great to deal with and definitely kept in touch throughout the entire process. In fact the 3rd TQ was a rush job as our daughter had decided to come hang with us in FL last min. Paul had her TQ made and shipped out in a couple of days if I remember correctly, shipping it to FL for us where we were able to pick it up on the way down to our destination.

    Would definitely recommend them.

I got a 0 dergree TQ and UQ from Paul for a snow shoe trip. Excellent quality and Paul is very good at communication. E-mail him for any specific question, he's very good to work with.

How's your 0* TQ? Think it could be a sudo 3-season TQ (fall-winter-spring) when added to the 20* UQ? Does having DWR on both sides make un/compressing difficult? Does it compress small or is it really bulky?
