I believe that depends on room size, ceilng height and your preference of hanging height...

Different question: How high up are the eyebolts, and how low is the bottom of the hammock?

The eye bolts are about 78" from the floor which puts the bottom of the hammock at about 32" off the floor. The hanging distance is 10'6" between the eye bolts. I hung it that high because I put it over a queen size bed because I didn't know if I would like sleeping in a hammock full time. Now I need to get rid of the bed and lower the hammock a bit.

The dimensions work out perfect for a ENO DN, but it would vary with a different hammock and how much sag you like. If you use your DD, the bolts would probably be quite a bit lower because the hammock hangs a lot straighter, or at least I hang mine that way to get them more comfortable.

You could anchor the chain at the top and bottom, or near it and then you could just move your suspension up or down quite easily on the chain until you find the sweet spot.

This would be a lot easier to repair than tearing the studs out! I racked my brain too until I remembered to ask my son. It took me longer to explain the problem than it took for him to come up with the answer. LOL

Do the vertical boards span the whole height of the wall?

Brilliant! As long as altering the appearance of the original structure is no problem, this could be used just about anywhere!

From the picture posted by the OP, the height of the vertical lumber appears to be about an inch or so below the ceiling height. For "aesthetic" reasons, this might be the optimal plan, but would not be required if hanging at much lower heights than the OP. He had a bed underneath his hammock.

N.B. "aesthetic" and "older mobile home" can cause minor brain discombobulation.

But does it run all the way to the floor? Would that be needed for it to work safely?
