    Newbie Near Dallas

Hello All. My name is Ryan and I just got my first hammock. I bought an ENO DN and bug net as an impulse buy at my local REI. After playing with it for a while, and returning the slapstraps, I started researching hammocks and found this site. Its been great, but I now have a wish list that is getting expensive.

I am waiting on some suspension straps from Warbonnet. When those get here, I want to get out on some overnights.

Any suggestions for good spots near DFW?

Also, need some advice for some other camping/backpacking gear. I have some gear from back in the day, but needs some updating.

    Thanks for all the advice!

    Ryan

Thanks Shnick. I was scoping the Texas State Parks too...I used to go to Camp Dorris in OK, but don't want to be 4 hours from home on the first few test runs...

Oh and congrats on your purchase, Welcome to the ENO Clan!
I been looking at the Wichita Mountains as a next expedition site, might do a three day tour there someday.

Whats your backyard look like? I have a Slash Pine Tree and one fence post in the backyard (I trust the tree more) and use it for short term testing and basic rigging setups, but testing gear out in the field is the best way to go. Prep, pack, use, evaluate, toss or modify, try again.

That goes for pretty much all you bring. If it works, keep it in your pack, if it don't, send it to me...
