    Problem with slippage...

Ok, I am using the Ebay line from this thread:
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ighlight=Garda
It looks just like HC4U's & Grizz's gray lines in these pics:

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/a...3&d=1216049092
I am trying to use a garda hitch like JustJeff uses here:
    http://www.tothewoods.net/HomemadeGearHHGarda.html

I am not using Hennessy, but the blue hanging rope supplied with the Travel Hammocks. The feel of the two as far as grip are very similar. The problem I'm having is the gray spectra line that is prussiked to my blue rope slips when full force is applied. Which causes the gray line to melt/fray. Is this line just too slick or may there be another problem?

Check the way the prussic is tied. Prussics should not slip under force. They are used for self-ascenders on climbing ropes. Them suckers should hold solid. I had problems with the tarp hooks slipping on my HH unitl I noticed the "prussic" was really a larkshead. I retied it and have not had a bit of trouble since. I just did a test hang suspension on some pretty nasty rope with prussic loops. No slippage at all. The loops I tied the prussic with were the Amsteel Blue 7/64
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Triple checked prussik cannot find a mistake there.

    cord diameters?

Wisdom I received elsewhere here on HF is that the cord with the prussik needs to be on the order of 50% thinner than the cord you put it on.

Toying around with a single line suspension once I tried hanging the hammock from the ridgeline with prussiks, but the ropes were too similar in diameter and it didn't hold. Didn't make any sense to use a fat cord as the ridgeline just so that I can use prussiks with lighter weight cord to the hammock ends, so I didn't go any farther with that. TeeDee solved the problem using the Marlinspike hitch.

Another option is to not use Prussic knots. I use butterfly knots to form a loop in each suspension line and then tie a ridgeline between those loops for hanging my bugnet.
