    Weight Savings

    I recently upgraded the suspension on my doublenest and weighed all the pieces I took off. I figured some other people may like to know the numbers in case they were considering doing the same thing.

    Carabiner - 62g (2.2oz) each
    Rope - 12g (0.4oz) each
    Compression Strap on integrated stuff sack - 24g (0.8oz)

    Total = 172g (6.0oz)

    Of course you have to replace the suspension with something. I ordered the Tree strap and whoopie sling kit from Arrowhead (http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...s/show/2575039.) Here are the stats:

    Tree Huggers: 44g (1.6oz) each
    6ft Whoopie Sling: 21g (0.7oz) each
    Toggle: 4g (0.1oz) each

    Total: 138g (4.9oz)

    I also added the Dyneema Structural Ridge Line from Arrowhead (http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com/a...s/show/1452521)

    SRL 9g (0.3oz)

    Hope this helps the gram weenies!

    Yup, I did the same thing with mine except for the Dyneema SRL, I use a bit of 550 cord Klemhiested onto the whoopies and haven't been happier. I got a pair of Hennessy Snakeskins XLs and the whole thing goes in a stuff sack.

    It's interesting that the biners used are cheap in the industry, but low on quality. the gate has sharp edges and can snag your fabric, Nano 23s dont and they do the same job. the rope to me, equates to climbing rope, again, probably the cheap stuff from China.

    So basically, the stock equipment was over-engineered for the lawyers...
    Glad you dumped it... Nuthin' like a custom rig made by you.

    Man, does that SRL make a huge difference for the newb like me. I must've never got the angle correct before that because once I added the SRL it felt like a whole new hammock!

    Also, those bean counters and lawyers ruin everything (:
