Hanging on the Long Trail VT

It looks like most people agree that the AT can be thru hiked with a hammock. How about the Vermont Long Trail? Obviously the southern half which coincides with the AT can be done by hammock. Does anyone out there have experience hanging the northern section of the Long Trail, specifically from the Canadian border to the Mount Mansfield area. I am planning that hike this summer with my daughter and would appreciate any insight people have. Would really like to us my hammocks.

Of course. Good Lord, Vermont is nothing but trees! It's far easier to find a place for your hammock than it is to find a spot for a tent.

Yeah most certainly hang the whole LT. I did MA/VT border to Just past stranton pond a few years ago and it was very easy to hang. This summer Im starting at the Canadian border and going SOBO for 17 days. I plan on hanging the whole time. However I would definitely suggest bringing a ground set up for shelters. Read through the LT guide book because certain shelters especially some in the N do not allow tenting outside the shelter. Weather that includes hammocks I guess is up for interpretation however I choose not to hammock at shelters that did not allow tenting outside shelter.

When u going maybe well see each other on the trail
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Let me know when you going to be on the LT, the south end of the LT is only a few miles from me. Maybe we will be on the trail together...

I spend a ton of time on the LT all summer long, send me a message sometime. I have the southern 105 miles done, a few times lol

And yes, you can hang the entire length. The LT is such an awesome trail

Any updates? I completed the LT just a couple weeks ago and hung for a couple nights. Seemed to be easy enough to find spots on just about every part of the trail!
