Oh my goodness neo. It looks like your conversion to the Dark Side is complete.
Never thought I'd see the day, but welcome to the warm club.

A few weeks before Neo joined, I was struggling with my first night ever in any hammock ( HH Explorer UL ). And trying to figure out ( through a haze of altitude sickness with hypoxia induced extra stupidity) about the HHSS, first week of Sept in WY's Wind River range, at ~ 10,000 ft. I had never heard of HF. I had only heard about camping with hammocks about 2 or 3 weeks prior to this trip.

I found and joined HF about 3 months after Neo, bout 4 months after that 1st trip. Then, with a few months of learn by doing behind me, I started learning from the good folks here! Including Neo, who I must have met at his 2007 fall hang the following Oct. I brought my good old HHSS to that, and gave his Claytor/pad system a test hang.

I have not been around as long as you, but I know and appreciate the joys of underquilts. You will find great pleasure in your Phoenix. Adam and Jenny do great work. And as I have advised in the other thread, your boy will appreciate the Jarbridge River. I just can't get over how well Paul's summer quilt keeps me cozy down to 40° with only 13 oz!

Enjoy. Wish I could make your next hang, but work commitments will likely keep me away. Maybe next year.

Awesome to hear neo. Hammock Gear sure does make the finest quilts. I never tried the pad thing in a hammock but after using stormcrow's quilts for about three years now I couldent imagine sleeping with anything else underneath me.

    Enjoy the warm downey goodnes
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
