There's a pair of Patrick Lee books that I thought were really good, 'The Breach' and the sequel 'Ghost Country'.

Thumbs up AIRPLANE MODE for longer battery life!!!

My android smart phone lasted an entire weekend, with kindle reading, without a recharge. The trick: I put the stupid thing in "airplane mode", and made sure all the unnecessary running apps were shut down. When you're constantly hunting for a signal, whether digital roam, like especially out in the boondocks, or with good service, or trying to tell facebook where you're hanging , you're wasting your battery life.

    Just my 2 cents...

Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer is an excellent read. Will make you want to get out of your hammock and climb, but at the same time will make you appreciate your cozy setup!

I like to choose something that's about the history of the area I'm hanging in. For example: Roan Mountain, History of an Appalachian Treasure by Jennifer A. Bauer or Christopher Blake's, Images of America, Linville Gorge Wilderness Area.

"The Climb" by Anatoli Boukraev is an answer to some of the accusations made by Jon Krakauer in "Into Thin Air."

anything by Cormac McCarthy for my drama, Christopher Moore for very good laughs, and Chuck Palahniuk for the crazies, Philip K **** for my paranoid sci fi, and George R R Martin for my blood/guts/adventure/fantasy.

Christopher Moore, Tom Holt or Carl Hiaasen for ludicrous fiction, Cormac McCarthy, WEB Griffin, John LeCarre, Tom Clancy and Randy Wayne White (Doc Ford series) for fiction. Asimov, Piers Anthony, Wheel of Time series and Harry Potter for sci-fi & fantasy.

Right now I have "Enemies: A History of the FBI" by Tim Weiner queued up in the kindle machine
