I will likely be able to attend, barring an unforeseen event. I hope it cools off a bit by then! Meramec's a nice place.

I've never been to Meramec State park but it does have a good reputation. I'm fine if we limit the mileage on the first one. If you don't have some equipment, let us know what you need and perhaps we can help out.
I wanted to push this thread back to the top and see if we can commit to a date/location. I for one am excited about the possibility of meeting some of you for a hang but it works best If we can get a date set on the calenders. Otherwise the can keeps getting kicked down the road. If we can pull of this first one then we can start planning a second for October, even into November at another location.
Someone else put the date out there of 22 & 23 September. I can committ to this and they also suggested the Wilderness trail at Meramac state park. It's a 10 mile loop (long or you can shorten it depending on where we camp. We could camp 3-5 miles in so folks have the option of completing the loop the next day or backtracking out to keep down the mileage.
I'm working out more to get myself in shape :0
So who's in? We could even put a date out there in October. A few of you mentioned Hawn State park. I've been there often and it really is a great place.
so if you can committ to the 22 and 23rd at Meramac, let the group know. If you'd really like another date or place, please speak up now, let's wrestle it to the ground and lock it in.
I'm looking forward to it. This hot weather has kept me at home and I'm aching to get back out there!
Enjoy the weekend

Watching this thread to see where and when it's etched in stone. I am in Southwest, MO. so anything south of I-70 is of interest.
I'm still on for Sept 22-23 at Meramec State Park. I think this location would be perfect since we've had a few people state that they would not be able to hike very far. Those that want to hike further, can though.
With beauty all around you, may you walk.
Maybe create a public Facebook event called Missouri Hammock Hangers - First annual! Meramac state park. I'm suppose to kayak fish that Friday so I should be ok
Well should we "etch the stone" for 22/23 September? I can commit to that.
Spider, it's south of I-44, about 2.5 hours from Springfield. Hope you can make it.
So, I'm in and very much looking forward to meeting some other forum members. Sounds like you live close to the park CB4.
We can have it be a short hike and go as a group since it'll likely be a small group and then on Sunday folks can hang around camp, short hike back or really explore the park.
This will be my first time there so I'd like to see as much as possible.
Just a heads up, I'm planning a 3 day/2 night trip to Irish Wilderness for the fall. I'm not even close to picking the dates but if you check it out, there's an 18.6 mile loop. I'm planning on early to mid October. I'll post more about it as we get closer if anyone wants to join in. I plan on spending some time fishing in the Eleven Point River on day two of the hike.
Enjoy the week guys
