    Sea to Summit bag liner

I am considering purchasing a bag liner. I have my eye on the Sea To Summit Reactor Extreme Thermolite® Liner. Sea to Summit claims that this liner adds and extra 25 degrees of warmth. Has anyone used these before? If so are they rated accurately?

    Thanks

I have one as well as a silk bag liner

Both increase the temp rating but I doubt by their stated value

Without a longer length side cut they are difficult to get into, in a hammock.

The best entry is to put it on the ground and stand in it, pull it up around you, then sit in the hammock and swing in.

I have the CoolMax version, and plan to cut it right down the middle of the "back", leaving a footbox.

I don't understand why anyone would make a sleeping bag like a condom.

I have no idea how the two materials compare, but JRB's micro-fleece quilt liner solves the "condom" problem as it is made like a top quilt.

I have the Reactor liner, and I agree with TZ! I think it added 5-8* maybe a max of 10* (which is pushing it) even though it's stated to add 15*!

Now I've had mine for about 5yrs or so, so I don't know if they've improved them or not?!?!

I think it would also be wise to remember that we are sleeping in a hammock and that the cold air can pass under you. This may be the reason that the liners aren't providing as much insulation (warmth) as they are intended to be used on the ground (cough cough).

I haven't used mine in the hammock! Only used it when I was a groundling!
