Compression Sacks + Hammock Gear = Awesome

So I got my size medium "Granite Gear Round Rock Solid Compression Sack" from Amazon:

I was able to easily stuff both my full length bottom quilt (20 deg) and my top quilt (20 Deg) + my Hammock Gear pillow:



You can see that it compressed down very nicely







I just thought that you all might like to know that these little guys are an option for these awesome Hammock gear quilts. And I stuffed them in without putting them in the "factory" stuff sacks first. I think that is key to getting them both in the sack comfortably.

Good question. I have a GoLite M's Quest 65L Pack, Large. I took a few pics - I already had a 3 L hydration bad in there and I just left it in. I had to expand some of the straps a bit to get it in, but it fit pretty well:

interesting,,, i've foregone the compression sacks --- but this thread will send me to the gear room, stuffing my gear into a smash sack.

ugh! i think i've already done this before, and felt just pushing everything down into a pack liner , smooshed in the bottom of my pack was better.

back and forth we go. THANKS FOR MOTIVIATION!

I've been using a Sea-to-Summit 13L dry bag for awhile. Both my 20 *F HG TQ and UQ fit in it well. It the fits perfectly in the bottom of my 46L Osprey Exos. I'll take the additional 1.5 oz of the stuff sack as an added precaution of staying completely dry.

I tested that sack in a river and everything stayed completely dry. Also if it's a driving storm when I set camp it gives me just a little more security than a pack liner. I can set my tarp then pull the stuff sack out. Works for me at least! IMO at least.

Years ago on the last day of a trip I sat my pack down on a rest and when I got home that evening my down sleeping bag was wet. Had it been earlier in the trip I'd've been in trouble!

i have a go-lite pinnacle and when i used compression sack it pressed against my back like a rock. if it wasn't the quilts it was the food bag. i put up with it, but closer i got to resupply the less i compressed them. that helped a lot. was just wondering you experiences carrying so far

thank you, i needed this info- going to order a medium as well- i will have an HG 0d and my 30d down sleeping bag and i think this will fit nicely.

I have never used an actual compression sack, but I noticed my OR ultralight sacks with the dry bag type enclosure, allow me to burp out the air before rolling the folds over, and it kind of vacuum packs it.
The 10 liter sacks fit the 40 deg or 20 deg burrow or Incubator, and the 15 liter sacks seem better for the O deg quilts.
