You shouldn't have much problem rigging for panfish. A long stick with a piece of line, a hook, and a grasshopper may do the trick.
Still, to some degree, it reminds me of a post college graduation trip to Banff, Albert in the summer of 1970. We hiked into a remote lake, depending on the fish we were going to catch to supply our supper. It turned out to be a long and hungry night. Had it not been for the few provisions we took with us, we would have been eating grass for supper. We were very inexperenced at that time and if had we caught anything, we would have crawled into our sleeping bags smelling like fish and the bears would have thought they stumbled onto a supply of fish tacos.
Why is it that we learn more from our screw ups than successes?
