    Whoopie sling swallowed itself?

    hey guys,

I bought a couple whoopie slings not to long ago, and randomly when setting up my hammock today, i noticed the adjustable loop is not there....It had a bead on there, but apparently the bead broke or something.

How do I get the loop out of there? If i try pulling it out it tightens itself, plsu I have nothing to grab on to try and pull it out.

    Help?

Depending on how much got swallowed, you might be out of luck. You could try pulling it out but you run the risk of pulling strands.

you need to try and pull it out, something nice a small (think toothpick size) will help with working it back out, go slow this can take some doing to get it back out

Have patience and keep slowly working the bury back out. I use my fingernails to pull at the inner strands.

It took 30mins once to get 6" back when I trod on one pre-bead days.

...and then you will fix something that stays. I keep a #0 s-biner on all whoopies ( after having lost the loop twice ).

Keep digging at it and you will eventually recover the loop.

Same thing happened to me before. Took me almost an hour to get it out, but I did.

I put small paperclips on mine and haven't had a problem since.

I recognized that thread title . Been there, done that....but after an hour or maybe longer I finally was able to fish it out. You need to kind of push down on the line (the opposite sides pushed together) to loosen it up and you'll see where you lost it and slowly work it back out. Then once it's out tie a loose loop there, or run a key ring through it so it doesn't happen again. That 's what I did to all of mine Good luck, and patience be with you.

Check out Professor Hammock, aka Grizz, and his hardware free hammock suspension. He shows a sliding whipping knot made out of 1.75 Lash-it that keeps the adjustable loop from sliding into the bury and also doubles as a way to secure the loop around a Marlinspike Hitch or whatever attachment point you are using. It doesn't add any real weight, it isn't likely to get broken like a bead, it doesn't require anything special other than what you are likely to have around anyway. Good luck.
