Anyone mind measuring the outside foot to outside foot for me? I have a 16'x16' room and would like to hang on this.

Should fit no problem... I have 7' tall poles and a 14' ridgeline... My feet are set 4' away from each other in the triangle... So without getting too much geometry involved my legs are only 18' apart, and I have a 4' longer pole than most... So you should be good to go, the shorter you get the closer your legs get too...

My hammock for all intents and purposes is 11.5'-ish. I like a tighter ridgeline so i dont know if I can get away with the 10 foot fence pole.

IDK Rick, it's gonna be close but maybe worth a try. This is an 11' er hanging on a 10' ridge pole.

I measure the overall length of this stand at 13'9" so room to enlarge it in a 16' room. This stand's long legs are 73" so standing it's about 70" tall.

Thanks Randy. I have some hooks in my house that make me nervous and are in the new nursery so I need to find a different solution for indoor. The way this thing hangs I need to have it "pull" from the ends to get the hang I like. If not it gets droopy-ish.

I'm curious if that will be problematic with this set up.

I don't think it would be a problem if you make a longer ridge pole.

What's the minimum distance you can hang it in now? You'll probably have to do something with your suspension. I switched from that original setup to eyebolts and S hooks, swapping out short dogbones for my whoopies.

I think if I were you I'd start with a 12' ridge pole. If a 10' works in a 14' stand, 12' should work in a 16' space. Actually, maybe start with 13' if you can...

    Ridgeline and more

Wow - there is a lot of pages through this thread. I have went through the majority of them, and PM'd a couple people (thanks).

Bought the wood last night, 6" Heavy Duty hinges, and 1/4 bolts/washer/nuts over at Home Depot last night. I held off on buying the ridgeline pole (they sell a 10' 6" for roughly $11). This seems a little short for anyone wanting to put up a tarp (mine is 12x12 until I make my hexcat). When going beyond this length, what was the approach? Buy two poles, or do fencing supply stores sell longer lengths?

    Thanks,

samjaynes, if you buy two poles, and cut them at 6', you'll end up with two 6' pieces and two 4' pieces. This will allow for 8, 10, 12, 14, and other lengths to be assembled.

Add another to the list. I added rubber feet and tested it inside after making it today.

I used a 10.5 ft pole (will cut two later) and tested my DIY grey ghost and Warbonnet Traveler. Both worked great.
