    >Looks great overall though. Looks like you opened up the angles on the tripods too. Lots of people might be interested in how you did yours. <

I can't take credit for the build. HarleyNemo built it. I just sleep in it

What size are those eyebolts you have installed? I assume the wood inside is just to give you additional stability at the hang points?

    Beautiful Azaleas!

I see Hppyfngy has summed up the needed adjustments. As He indicated, I am interested in the angles you used at the top of your 2x2s. I would like that slightly wider stance too!

IIRC, they are 5/16 eyebolts. Pretty stout. The wood is as you suggest. I only did it as I had bits of 2x on hand when I was building. I don't think they really add anything with the nuts over and under as shown, I think the stability needed is there without the wood. Just some of my overbuilding.

That is EXACTLY what mine looked like just moments before the center connection failed and I wound up on the ground.

First off thanks to everyone for their replies to my question on top ridge pole bowing. I purchased the eyes bolts to redo mine and take it off the end caps. Hopefully I will get time to work on changing out next week.

    Pappy,
You asked me for some measurements from my stand. Below is the measurements from the 3 legs and close up pictures of the how the top fits together.

    Rear Leg
    81.75 inches outside
    80.0 inches inside
There is no "off set on the top cut"

Front 2 legs are cut exactly the same
    83.75 inches outside
    79.5 inches inside
There is a .25 off set on the top.

Attached are pictures including what I am calling the off set in the cuts.
