the only eye bolts I can find at lowes are rated about 150lbs...are you guys using something different with a higher rating?

Mine were unrated as well, but looked like this and measured 3/8" x 6". I figured that a solid-forged piece of galvanized steel that size should hold me, as it's thicker than the fence rail wall and made of the same material. I may find out otherwise, but I think this one's pretty safe.
There're two different aisles in my local Lowe's that have eye bolts; the bigger ones (that I used) were over by the door hardware and gate hinges rather than in with the regular screws and such.
Hope it helps!
Edit: Correction to bolt size: 3/8", not 5/8".

Mine're 3/8" (just ran out to the car and measured).

Thanks, guys. Just what I needed to know.

Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I cannot find 1-1/2 rubber chair tips for the legs to save my life. Only place online I have found is home depot.
Home Depot is where I found white ones. Supposedly Ace Hardware has them too but I never saw any.
When building one set for my nephew, who wanted a dark stain, I made do with some 1-1/4 tips in black because that was all I could find.
I had to trim the ends down to make it work, but it worked fine.
