I attached a quick link to the hinge to attach the continuous loop that holds the crossbar. I added a length of old bicycle inner tube to each end of the crossbar and tucked the remaining tail end inside of the tube end. I wrapped the Amsteel continuous loop on the padded ends of the crossbar and cinched them down.

SouthernExposure.......what a great idea!!! I'm now on the hunt for my sons bicycle inner tubes.........

    Re: The TurtleDog stand

I was wondering if anyone here has dabbled with the idea of hanging more than one person on one single stand. For instance I have a family of 6 so instead of making 12 stands and transporting 12 bags of stands along with other gear, I was thinking of forming a square with 4 stands and then a 5th stand in the middle.I would hang 4 family members on the outside connecting the square and then hang the smallest kids in the midle at a diagonal one corner to the middle splitting the square into a triangle. Just wondering if there would be a weight issue or are these things pretty stout? We are a family small in stature if that helps.uploadfromtaptalk1373822520075.jpg

I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. It will be somewhat of a challenge getting all the ridge poles rigged under the "busiest" tripods but I think, given that you pick good clear lumber, it should not be a weight issue. I think we have several heavy hangers using stands.

I would leave the tripods as long as possible until you see how "stacking" the ridge poles fits. Definitely would require some experimentation. And a large pretty flat area.

Does it count without a photo?
Just made me a stand, using the stand-ard hinges, 2X2's and finished with dark walnut stain. Quite pleased.
To whom do I send the money for my name on the list? Did I make the cut-off?
Or is this one of those "I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me as a member" things??

No! If you can't take a picture you have to draw one.

We will consider your application and get back to you.

OD, Keeper of the List, will render his decision anon.

Plenty of time for pics I guess. Don't see another 10 or so posting in the next day or two.

Not sure that discontinuing the list is necessary, just not that computer savvy and was concerned about amount of space taken up. Then there is the fact that anyone following the thread has to scroll thru all of the listings. Ya'll let me know.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

Mods, Olddog has brought up a good point. Such a considerate dog. Do we have your permission to continue or should we stop with the long list? Your call.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
