Hey folks, thought I'd post a picture of my Tdog stand. I drove up to St. Louis to visit a particular shop that sells neat bikes and had to stay in a hotel. I let the tricycles stay in the bed and I slept in my Blackbird by the open window.

I love this stand because it's really easy to carry around. I just bundled it all up in the tree straps and tossed it in the back of my truck. Nobody seemed to care when I was bringing it into the hotel. I bet the maid thought I must have been a pretty odd customer to have not slept in the bed and all.

Here are the pictures I said I would post:

I received my new suspension system in the mail yesterday from http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/ but I am still using an old method in these pictures.

I also forgot to mention that I have the tripod legs cut at 7' to compensate for the additional weight the doublenest holds.

    getting past the 12' mark

I too want to have more than a 12' span for my top rail. I bought two top fence rail post that have a smaller diameter pipe end. Although I read many of the posts I am not sure this has not already been suggested........Why not have the two smaller diameter ends fit into a 6 foot middle section (or any other length for the center section). This would effectively allow for an increased length without having to exceed the 6 foot truck bed.

Also wondering has anyone used a simple hitch-pin to secure the two (or in the above case three) sections of pipe instead of running a ridgeline with a carabiner connection in the middle?

That's what I did a couple of weeks ago. Several others have also done so.

More, Your motel room looks a bit like mine often do, although I don't have the trikes! Way to make everything fit with your preferred sleep methods and toys! What are you using for the middle piece in your ridgepole? Turtlelady

Gonna head out and pick up the supplies tomorrow, methinks. Just out of curiosity, how're y'all cutting the toprail?

Anything that will cut metal should work fine. I used a hacksaw and a little bit of sweat

Sawzall. But whatever cuts metal will work. I expect they'd cut it for you at the HD or wherever.
