Apparently you haven't read this entire thread. The angles on the tops are made exactly like those described in post #119 (page 6).

However to save you time the angles are approx. 15 deg. For the two side to side supports, and 25 deg. For the back leg. Even after I cut and screwed on the legs to the hinge, I hung a plumb bob off the center of the hinge, and just eyed how centered the string was between the three legs. I had to cut extra wood off the bottom back leg so the plumb bob would hang equidistant.

By the way I used 2x 3's. home depot's stock looked much straighter. Fewer knots than the 2x2's.

The top pole is two ten foot sections of fencing top rail. It appears the joint is weak buts really not because the force on the couple joint is actually upward, not down. If you look at the photo of the end, the pole is suspended about 4" from the end, but the hammock hangs from the end. Therefore the coupling strength on the center of the pole is not an issue.

Overall length of the pole is 14'. I just cut both sections 7'. Hope this helps.

Haven't read the entire thread? Moi? Oh, we have a comedian...

I must be confused by the overall size of your stand. And I didn't catch that they are 2x3's.

How tall are your tripods, if I may ask?

Well, I'm laying in my hammock as we speak, as it were, so ill measure them in the morning. But in order to arrive at the proper height, whatever that is, I hung the hammock, then subtracted what I thought is the correct height of the bottom of the hammock off the ground.

If I had to guess I would say they are approx 6'4" to the top of the peak.

Ok, I measured the height of the legs, and they are 6'9" to the top measuring vertically. See photos

Well I have been in St Louis for a month now and found a neat little apt last weekend. So I got started today. After a road trip to the cut it your self isle at Home Depot.. I left with this stuff.

A short time later this lil place was starting to look like home.

Tomorrow I am gonna paint the top rail and stain the wood.

Next month when I come back up I am hoping to see some snow......dang that bucket list....

By the way, Home Depot sells little half pint (3 oz.) cans of stain, just enough to stain the legs, in case you don't have any laying around. Check in their paint dept.

I then had an issue finding the tubing to run between the tripods... I couldn't find anything like what I have seen in the photos here.

After some online research I found a guy who specialised in aluminium tubing, so i went to his workshop and this is where the concept for the 'mk2' tripods was born!

I have ended up building telescopic aluminium tripods that stand approx. 2 metres tall (1.2 metres when compact) and an aluminium centre beam (scaffolding) that is strong enough to hang body weight from the centre. The reasoning behind going this thick was to avoid the beam from bowing and so if someone pulled themselves out of the hammock using the beam it wouldn't collapse above them.

I have slept in my WBBB hanging from the mk2 and it is perfect and strong. I have also made the centre beam almost 4 metres long so I can hang my WB Mamajamba tarp from it too.

Now that's a pretty darn sharp stand. I like this. What was your approximate cost in that....not that it makes much difference here in the states, but I was just curious?

I actually made 4 of them: 2 are larksheaded to the hammock end and then looped over the top rail. Pics tomorrow... I'm off to Trick-or-Treat!

Ohh, John, your carpentry skills must be right up there with your camera skills, as there are NO pics yet. or you went trick-or-treating and ate soooo much candy you broke the stand and couldn't get a pic?
