So, here's my version.I used 2x2's that I ripped out of the wall we're demolishing. My buddy had two pieces left from a chain link fence he took down and gave them to me. One was a post, and one a top rail, so I slid the top rail into the post, added a bolt along with two options for holes so I can vary it from 11-13'.
Don't mind the mess, it's set up in the room were tearing down.

That has to be the best price on a TD. Looks good.

Yea, I think it came in at about $25 for the hardware. If I lived in a populated area, it would have probably been around $15. Now to test out the winter gear in the backyard!
Hppyfngy - Maybe you said in another part of this thread, but I wasn't able to find it, can you (or anyone that knows), tell me what hinge you used? Was it a Stanley 4" Tee Hinge? Looking at them at Lowes and they seem sort of small but any bigger and there are 4 holes not three (so there is none in the center like you have) I guess I could drill one in the center, but I was wondering what you used.
THanks to everyone that contributed - I'm using the 4' military aluminum poles for the horizontal pole (they came in the mail yesterday - got 4 but will probably only use 3), just need to make these tripods and then I'll be hanging indoors.
The hinge I used has 4 holes. I hung it from the same spot on each hinge, so when the hammock is hung it goes from the hole on one side, crosses the center line to the hole on the other tripod. You can see the empty hole in my picture above.
It is a 4" tee hinge. I have tried several brands and don't recall which one is in the pictures.
Actually the latest ones I found also have the holes lined up down the middle of the tee too. That's nice as it keeps the bolts centered on the leg.
If I can figure out which brand it is I'll add that to the instructions.
