    Diy Hh

    Hi All
Has anyone built a toploader that is the same size and with the side tie outs as the HH backpacker ultralight a-sym?

I'd like the HH but would like to make a toploader so I can just climb in and look out of but still use the std HH tarp. So it would need to end up the same length and I wonder about the folded ends too.

Anyone try this and have some measurements?
    Thanks
    Gunn

There is a tutorial for a DIY Hennessy clone by headchange4u that should get you started on the right track. Good luck and post some pics when you're done!

I used This Page from hennessy to measure out the size of my HH-clone. They have two dimensions - the fabric size and the hammock size.. use the fabric size.

On my hammock I rolled the ends in the following manner:

Lay out the hammock so the inside is facing the ground, the bottom is facing up. This is assuming you have sewn the ends together as headchange did (I did). Fold the ends in, evenly, towards the center. Make sure they're lined up correctly. Take the new edge, fold that towards the center. Line them u p again. Fold them towards the center again (3rd time). Now, take the (hopefully even, if you were careful) bundle and fold it up like a taco, and whip/zip tie it. All folds are made on top... don't fold anything under.

That gave me the most comfortable lay. Do it the same way on each end. I'm pretty new to this though so maybe someone will chime in with a better method.

    Good luck!

Another option would be to either sew on a zipper or get 2questions wife to do it. The shipping cost might make prohibitive to autrailia to have it done in USA. Once I had mine done i never entered though the bottom again. I have had a diy hh on the back burner for quite a while.

This is the tutorial I used to start off with. I've got about a total of three weeks of hanging in it so far (I've had it since the first of June or so). I haven't had any problems. Good luck and happy haning !!
