Sites for the Spring MAHHA 2013

I was thinking while the Mahha is still fresh in our minds....what about next year? Usually I try to make reservations way in advance so we have as much room as we might need. If I don't, other groups may beat us to the punch.
With that said, I'd like to look around PA at some other SP's that may have plenty of trees in their group camping areas. What we have at PGF is not typical in my experience, most are clear cut for tent placements.

BobMack said he'll check out Ricketts Glen SP and I plan to hit a few others.
We can always go to Gathland too.

If anyone has a suggestion for next years site, please check it out and report back on this thread. We can post a poll vote and go from there.

BTW, I counted 57 hammock setups this year and several tents. Lots of trees needed if we keep growing in numbers!

Awesome 2Q thanks for getting a jump start on this. My only input is to go anywhere that allows dogs.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Uh oh, I was there hanging and they didn't seem to care where I hung as long as I had huggers. Me thinks something has changed the wind direction.
Did you get a look at the group site layout?

Little Pine State Park may be an option, their group camping is away from everything else and right along a small stream with plenty of trees (from what i remember). It also has it's own restrooms/showerhouse and a large parking lot. The map says "Organized Group Tent Area" if that means anything.

It has a few trails in the park, and the Mid-State is nearby. Also, the World Famous Pine Creek Rails to Trails are close by also.

    Just my 2 cents.

I think that often times, it's just a matter of who's on duty & what they know or don't know about hammocks

I'm game for something new. What I like about PGF and Gathland is that they are on the AT and people who backpack can do prehikes into the area.

Does anyone know about any group camping at Worlds End State Park in Pa? We backpacked there a few weeks ago on a circuit hike and it was very nice for hikers. If they had an area for a group hang, that could be an option also.
