    Priceless, Thank you

    material $3.33 from Walmart
    tarp $5.00 from Big Lot

Overnight hiking with my son and nephews. PRICELESS! Thanks for the help. Already ordering material to start building. Reading thru the archives now. Anyone know how much material is needed for a hennesey tarp?

Blackcat tarp starts with 8 yards of 66" wide material.

I'll let one of the HH users (& copiers) answer your question about the henessy tarp, but part of it will have to do w/ how long your hammock is & how much coverage you want on the ends & sides.
And welcome to HF & hammock camping morrelld.

My Hennessey Hex is 12X10 I believe. So that would be, again about 8 yards. However, If I was going to make a tarp I think I would make the blackcat. The Hennessey Hex is a nice roomy tarp but it lacks the cat cuts and I think that could improve its performance, although not having a blackcat to compare it to I can't say for sure.

That sounds about right. As long as the fabric is wide enough to give you the width you need for one side of the tarp, four yards for each side would give you about an 11.5' (or so) tarp after hemming the edges.
