    Need some baffling advice

I'm going to be making a warm ( 50 and up) weather TQ. This will be my first attempt at a TQ. I order some M50 and 6 oz of down. I'm thinking of using a 1/2" baffle instead of doing a sewn thru. My thought is That it will be extra work, but will make it a little more efficient. The quilt will be 72 long by 50 wide and taper to 40. I'm thinking that will give an 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" of space to fill. My math is (72x45x1.5= 4860/850=5.71 oz). What I would like some input on, Is adding a 1/2" baffle going to make any difference, do you think I will have 1 1/2" of loft, and with baffles will 6 oz of down fill the quilt adequately. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciate.

I think 1/2" baffles would be perfect for your quilt. That's what I would do.

Assuming that you use 800 fill power down, 6 ounces will give you 1.5" of average thickness, about 45 degree rating. Whereas 5 ounces will give you 1.25" of average thickness, about a 50 degree rating.

    The choice is yours

Thanks mad777 I'm going for 50 and up. I thinking to shoot for 5 oz then seal it up and lay it down to see how it fills each channel before sewing it up.
