Mini-spreader bar on End Channel Hammock

Has anyone tried these techniques on a WBBB or clone. The calf ridge makes it impossible for my UQ to seal properly and is somewhat uncomfy. I also seem to be constantly fighting shoulder squeeze no matter what I try. This sounds like a winner on both fronts.

Wouldn't the sewn on bug net be a problem it you tried to spread out the end?

I also don't know if the end channel in warbonnet style hammock is load bearing.

At this point I have the head end whipped using the W method, which has helped but not eliminated the squeeze and a bunching method on the foot. I can add the channel NP, my worry is that it the MSB will stress and possibly tear out the foot box. I would be ok removing the foot box if it helped either problem.

I really don't see the MSB being a problem for the footbox, butI've got no footbox experience either. Give it a try, get in gingerly and stop if it starts to feel over stressed.
I think you're the first footbox user to give this a try. Let us know how it goes.

If I recall, the channel on the wbbb is not load bearing. Its just sewn to gather the end, via the string...see knotty's diy tutorial. Channeled ends are usually 3 or 4 rows of stitchery.

And the netting is designed to be on a gathered system. So, spreading the hammock wider would need custom netting (or repair

) A simple add of netting would solve any issue.

been trying this for a while, had some problem with ends wanting to slide down on spreader. sewed a piece of bias tape to form a loop on each side of the channel, and just slipped the loop over the spreader. seems to work fine, seems like it was slipping more due to movement than pull, so this seemed the easiest solution. came in this post kinda late, so sorry if this problem has already been adressed or i stole someones idea!

I found a biner with a gradual slope on one end and a more pointed on the other in REI the other week. It caught my eye as the angle of the gradual slope is very close to the angle we are getting from the mini-spreader bars. It seems to provide all of the benefits of the spreader bar with alot less length and none of the annoyance of getting the spreader bar into the bag, but more cost. From comments I'm pretty sure its a locking belay biner or such. If this worked right the picture is attached.
