    I like it!
    Yes, that is it. Thanks

It is almost the same as newhanger's idea, However, instead of slots, I drilled holes and put the amsteel through the holes and then made a fixed loop on each end.

Alrany, I am using Newhanger's system also and will be utilizing your loop idea. I had just larksheaded my existing whoopies to the harness and until loaded and tightened it did want to slide on the harness.

So... I've read through 7 pages of this thread... I'm ready to start tinkering. I know what I'm going to do with the amsteel.

What is working the best for the spreader bar? A solid length of 1/2" sched 40 PVC? Or the PVC/connector/PVC/connector/PVC method?

I've got enough parts here to try either, but would rather do this just once.

Both of my setups are with 1/2" hardwood dowel and so far no problems.

Right. I thought I'd try two double ended brummels:

I had those anyway as that's how I attach descender rings to a hammock for strap/ring arrangements.

Run those through the channel, around the ends, through the holes and then attach descender rings to the two eyes at the top.

So these are 9" cedar 1" square with holes 6" apart.

Just something I happened to have around. 3 oz each including descender rings.

Put this on a GTUL Was going to try a tablecloth I had but the channels weren't big enough for all that cordage. It definitely feels longer. I always sleep in a 4, so the difference is so far negligible to me, but I haven't spent much time in it yet. I can definitely tell it's flatter for the length.

Isn't that what we do around here? I love the way an idea will be offered here and then the Forum Mind takes over!

I did my first harness with a 3/4" hardwood dowel. Last night, I was able to scrounge 2 pieces of 1" aluminum tubing, which were cut 8" in length and drilled 1/4" holes - 1" from each end. I am extremely anxious to try these.

Ellis, take care with those edges abrading the cordage. Heck I was thinking about easing the edge where the amsteel exits my soft cedar spreader bars...

I don't much like to see cordage going over a hard edge like that, especially under load. Especially when I'm the load!

They were deburred last night, BUT that was only on the outside. I will take care of the inside burrs ASAP. Thanks very much for the reminder.
