Very comfortable, I can take about 18 inch of the length of the hammock too. No flex from what I can tell and the bars (not set like this, but have been used 20+ nights) haven't bent or deformed.
Hmm, I wonder if can figure out a formula for how much shorter you can effectively make your hammock for every inch wide your spreader bar is.

I guess a better question might be, how wide do we need the need the ends of the hammock to be to avoid the dreaded ridge effect?
I've had the hardware sitting around for over a year and finally got around to using it. So, I used a 5" pipe u-bolt (2020 lb work load), eye nut adapters (1130 lb work load), and medium duty thimbles. So far I'm liking the effect. I can actually get a nice diagonal in the hammock now. The nice thing is that ends rotate instead of the flat bars tilting and the material still bunching to one side.
That's some serious hardware Mouseskowitz but it looks good, the thimbles are a nice touch too.
