Man you miss a lot when you're gone four days.
Thanks Sgt. Rock---and I'm down to 187.5 pounds!
Just spent the weekend under a zpacks a-sym at 4.5 ounces--what a combo this would be!

In pursuit of lightness: Would you say why multiple layers of cuben, either a tube or an accordian, are not fabricated into tree straps? Two dozen 1" strips, 2 yards long would weigh just over an ounce, right? Is there not 80lb of tensile strength in a 1" strip of cuben?
If abrasion to the cuben is a concern, the fabricated strap-bundle could be wrapped in a tougher fabric.
You are the famous Sgt. Rock!
SGT Rock, got any updates on this cuben hammock. How much use is it getting? How is it holding up?

I've done some modifications but haven't tried using it since I've done it. It's been too hot to want to lay on it.
Now that's just Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious amazing cool. Man you come up with some cool ideas. Love the innovativeness and always appreciate the sharing.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
Something I've been toying with in my mind for tree huggers. What if you took a piece of amsteel, unraveled it in the middle, and spread the fibers out longitudinally on a peice of tape. Then, place another piece of tape over it all sticky to sticky thereby laminating the fibers into a wide strip, kind of the way Arcterix does with some of their climbing harnesses (not same materials but similar construction). essentially, you'd be making a highly specialized peice of cuben. You could select tapes specifically for their optimum characteristics tree-side and outdside (eg. abrasion resistance and high coefficient of friction tree-side, and light weight outside). I was going to post this idea properly after I had a chance to think it through better and give it a try, but, meh, who knows when I'll ever get to it. So anyone have at it if you want and please post the results.
It is an interesting idea for sure.
on the new suspensin DO IT!! Get us info please.
It might be the last frontier.
I was setting up various hammcks/tarps/socks/uqs/tws and I was thinking as hefted the awefully dreaded tree hugger that something will come, something will get the tree hugger itself down to where my postal digital came barely sense it.
With Rock getting us sub 4 ounces and Neutron promising a sub four in m50 the tree huggers are surrely next!
