Yeah but the 90x132" tablecloth is over 9 yards of fabric!
It's voluminous! It's ginourmous! I rolled around in this thing for half an hour trying to find the geographical center! (I also have the angles all wrong...it's a good bit longer than the hammock I had in that spot before...)
I wanted to try this fabric and thought the rarity of 90" width should at least be explored. It's just silly big. I like it! But I'll sure never be packing it anywhere.

It seems that Randy at Dream Hammock uses 2.56oz Polyester Crinkle Taffeta and he rates it at a 300 pound weight limit does this sound about right for this material as well?
Has anyone tried to make a double layer hammock out of this yet? Would it be possible to just fold and whip the layers together without sewing them at all?
Fry: "I can't swallow that!"
Farnsworth: "Well then, good news! It's a suppository."
Could it be used for two people? Mr.Clean had him, grand-daughter, and dog in his. Could two grown people use it or would it be pushing it?
Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

Well, lets see. Juice is 47 pounds. My GD is 35 and I'm presently 285.
Technically that IS 2 peoples weight, but I don't have another full size person that wants to be in mine with me. So sad.
I don't feel any stretch or at least none like in my sil 1.9 Hancocks ripstop hammock. And when you think of it, my WBBB dbl 1.9 is really 3.8 ounce single layer, so this hammock is lighter in weight per yard if not counting the vast quantities of it. I wonder though, with airplanes the larger the wing the higher the Reynolds numbers making them more effective. That might just work its way into this size of hammock to.
I feel higher at least.
Thanks Mr.Clean that is what I hoped to hear.

Awesome thread!
I've never made a hammock in my life or thought of making one in my life until about 2 weeks ago. I'm tall, this hammock is going to be designed for a tall person. I'm in...
I just ordered a 156" x 90" crinkle taffeta table cloth from the afore mentioned vendor. According to the vendor's home page shipping is free right now.
BTW, update on this material. I don't find it to be as comfortable as ripstop, but of course that's subjective. It's certainly not as slippery or supple but I am used to a single 1.5oz ripstop and this is single 2.6oz, so read into that whatever you will.
Also for some reason it seems to work up a static charge really easily. I did wash it but dried it on a line, not in a dryer. No big deal but I've never experienced this with ripstop.
Finally, 90" is crazy big. Unnecessarily big for me. I don't take up much room at 180# but there's just so much extra fabric I don't know that I won't cut it down. I need to re-whip it and see if I can change some things, but I won't be buying any more 90" widths. I will be buying some more 60" widths!
