Clarks web site claims their hammocks to be almost untippable . They have a video with a guy leaning way over the edge without falling out. Are their hammocks somehow more stable than other hammocks and how do they do that.

I can't comment on Clark, because I don't have one. I can, however, say that I would find it extremely difficult to fall out of my Hennessy, my Warbonnet, or my DIY hammocks. Even if I were to try, I think I would stay in. They are all very stable.

IMO the only time one would be in danger of falling out of any hammock would be if it was:

i) strung too tightly;
2) a spreader-bar design; or
c) both of the above.

I too remember thinking that about that video before getting my NX-250, but now after owning one, I can tell you that unless you were really trying to flip out of it, you couldn't do it. Low center of gravity on most camping hammocks makes this possible. Check out the difference between what hammockers use and your average back yard net hammock with spreader bars and you'll see what I mean.

Yep, fall out proof, unless you really work at it. Knowing this lends a sense of security that is very relaxing. The spreader bar types that I have are real dumpers if you are not alert at all times. I would hate to wake up in one of them, lol.

I haven't noticed any substantial difference in stability between a Clark, HH, ENO, or Grand Trunk, honestly.

Almost all of the camping hammocks are pretty untipable, due to the center of gravity. (unless you have it strung way too tight)

However, In my comparison of Clark to some of the other camping hammocks, Clark seems to have more of a "bowl" shape crosssection specifically cut/sewn into the hammock, where the others are more just a rectangular piece of cloth, with the gathered ends and gravity pulling you below the center of gravity.

While sleeping/etc both seem very untipable, and there is no major difference.

Clark seems a bit better for when you are not in it, for putting something inside the hammock and not having it just slide/flip out, but this is a pretty minor advantage imo

I think that any non spreader bar hammock, I mean Brazilian, Mexican style hammock and I can vouch for that these all hammocks are fallout proof.
Having Brazilian hammock myself over three years and does not managed to fall out single time!
Before when I sleeped on the bed I had fallen out of bed sometimes.
I feel more secure in Brazilian hammock and this also helps to relax better.
