    Figure 9 on ridgeline

I recently upgraded from the standard Hennessey tarp attachment (to hammock ridgeline) to a separate continuous ridgeline. The CRL I bought uses a Figure 9 as the means of attaching / adjusting on one end.

As I began stuffing my tarp and its ridgeline (I'm hoping to keep the tarp attached to the CRL for speed of setup) into the stuff sack with my hammock, I realized that the pointed end of the Figure 9 could do damage to the tarp or hammock in there.

Are these fears unwarranted? Do I need to separate my CRL from the rest of my setup to protect it?

I've either let it hang out of the sack or simply leave it in. Never had a problem with it. Now I tend to use skins and I leave it out of the skin end as well.

I use snake skins so the fig 9's are not stuffed in w/ the tarp... Never got anything torn up by them though... So I am surely jinxed now.

My figure 9 is attached to the ridgeline via prussics (it's not the Figure 9 carabiner), so I can't remove it from the ridgeline. I was planning on getting snake skins for the tarp (already have them for the hammock), so that should help. Until then, I guess I'll cross my fingers, or maybe leave it outside the stuff sack -- although there it can just catch on anything else NOT in the stuff sack but in my pack.
