what do you use for tie downs?

I'm trying to stay light and keep bulk to a minimum. I was just curious if you all use tent stakes, or just tie to a stick or log? I'm using these allen security wrenches that I had laying around and they seem to be working, I was just curious. They are about 10" long and don't weight much at all. I wrapped bright yellow tape around the end to make some contrast (I lost one in the grass and never found it before the tape)

I've been using Ti stakes from campingworld.com. I have 6 each of the crevice stakes & the hook stakes. I only bring 4, the others are for losties, if it's an area I know the ground conditions I bring just the 4 I will need, crevice or hook, If I don't know the conditions I bring 4 of each.

They are increadibly strong and ridiculously light. 4 of each weights in about 3oz if memory serves. They were not cheap however. I'm planning to get 6 Ti nail stakes for this winter.

Coghlin's Y-stakes (melted my MSR Groundhogs down to slag by accident and haven't found a local replacement yet). They hold really well in the loose, sandy soil that FL seems to be covered with.

I use a mix of types depending on season and the type of tarp. For my winter tarps I like to have a few MSR Groundhogs for the corners and some cut down gutter spikes for the doors and pulls. Half length gutter spikes are 3-4 gms and an inexpensive alternative to titanium stakes.

I also use the MSR groundhogs and find they work in many different conditions. Really work well for me.

One reason I'm hanging is too many rocks where I camp. Now I use them at the ends of my tie outs.

With a loop on the far end, I can quickly and easily make a cinch around each tie out rock. My tarp has Line Loc 3s at the attachment patches so length adjustments are done there.

In more forested areas, I use pieces of branches. I get by using lighter materials in more sheltered places. With the ridgeline tied to trees, I'm not concerned about the whole tarp going airborne.
