How Early Should you Start your Kids?

Hello, I have been hammocking for about eight months now and I LOVE IT. I was wondering how early do you think you can start your kids hammocking? I have a three year old daughter who always wants to come with me and a almost two year old son. I've taken my daughter tent camping a few times and she loves it.

    Any opinions?

If the answer is yes, any suggested gear to bring to make the experience pleasent for the kids?

Mine are 2 and 4, granted my 2 yr old is young but im thinking of stitching up some mini sheets and hang them up off the floor a few inches so they can get familiar with them. Granted they are still dangers but will be supervised when i have them out. Or better yet in the living room.

...if I had another baby, the baby would be in a hammock from the get go. With everything I've read, the health benefits and so on, that is what I'd do...now to just find that donor TMI

My son, now 14 started camper and tent camping at 2. This is just a different kind of camping and had I known about this then, he would have been in a hammock right beside me or above me.

Detail Man's kids are all hammocking, I don't recall what his youngest is, but they all do great.

Around 10 is when I started my older kids. My youngest insisted he could come at 4, at 5 we got him his own hammock.

my 4 month old loves to be in the hammock in the back yard. we're planning some family car camping in the heat of summer, she'll be in the hammock with mom. She can be wide awake and fresh from a nap but as soon as she's in a hammock wrapped in down, she is out!

I have a three year old and he has been using hammocks for almost 2 years now. He has his own hammocks and will just chill and watch tv in them. He sleeps in a bed but won't take a nap unless it's in a hammock.

My daughter was 4 when we let her spend the night. I think as soon as they would be able to get out and wake you if they had to is a good time to start. I started out hanging under the same tarp but she is fine now at 5.

Keep em coming! I have a 2 and 4 year old and want to know more about doing this with them so young? Any issues with back problems at young ages as they are developing still?

I started my 4 yr old grandaughter out and now she is 5,,loving it, sleeping in it constantly,,and now her little sister, who is 16 months old,,can't stay out of it,,hang it low,,and even if they fall out,,they get right back up and get in it and keep on going,,they learn quick to adapt. And love hammocks. We are planning some hangouts in the front yard this summer breaking them in on camping, and they are looking forward to spending the nites outside in them.
