Guyline/tieout length

I had this question going in the Warbonnet forum, but this seems like the more appropriate place for it...

I've decided to use Kelty Triptease for my tie out and guyline cord. However, I was curious how long these should be.

I was planning on using 10' tie outs on each side of the tarp. I was going to tie to the D ring of the hammock, loop around the tree, and come back tightening the line with a figure 9.

For my guylines I was going to use 5' of cord connecting to my MSR groundhogs using the trick Brandon uses in his videos.

It's all personal preference. I like having around 7 or 8 feet on the tie outs so I can use a trekking pole for porch mode. For the ends I use 12 feet or more in case I run into larger trees or tree spaced further apart. Your lengths will be fine. It just depends on how you like to set up and what you get used to.

I tend to carry a variety/extra line, which gives me flexibility, rather than making my set-up uniform and permanent. I agree with you about sometimes running into trees farther apart, or wanting to set up in porch mode.

i think i have about 12' on my ridgeline tieouts with either dutch flyz or hooks
and about 6' on my corners with prussik adjusters...

carry 3 lengths of extra: 1 dynaglide, 1 zing-it, 1 techline, for extending anything
