    The Porkies

I will be taking several of my Boy Scouts on a High Adventure trip to the Porkies in late July this year. Can anyone give me some advice on which trails to take, we will be backpacking for about 5 days. Most of the Scouts will be using hammocks .

    Thanks

    Kevin

    hey Rudds63!

i was at REI in Schaumburg last night, looking for an off the shelf bug net (i found the Defender, and think it might do the trick...), when I met a man looking at hammocks, stating he had a son in a scout troop and he needed a hammock, because all the scouts were using hammocks now, and even a few of them were directed to make a diy hammock from their Scout Master!
I cant' remember his name for the life of me, but from what I can tell, you're one of the only scout-related members from the Chicagoland area on HF, so i thought this might be your troop.
I directed him to hammockforums, and told him not to worry about the underquilt if he's never hang before, but to bring his sleeping pad and his sleeping bag, and he should do just fine!

He was looking for a Hennessey, so maybe he'll stop by this forum to gain a little more perspective about sleeping sound in a hammock!

Maybe three years ago my wife and I did a hike from Lake of the Clouds over to the Presque Isle campground at the other end of the park. We hiked the lake shore trail. This is not a loop so requires car spotting.
    Good luck,
