Ridge Line on the NX-250

So when I put a ridge line on my NX-250 it puts down pressure on the spreader poles, should I move the ridge line further up the suspention rope or route it under the poles? Pictures of your set up might help too

an internal ridge line strung between the loops sewn at the hoop tunnels?

If so, here is what I do. Just add a 6-8" loop of 1/8" shock cord and make the ridge line adjustable via a cordlock. Sorry, I cannot provide a pic right now..

The shock cord allows the line to stretch to the appropriate length to keep the hoops from being pulled too far out of kilter.

I will have to set the hammock up this weekend & take a picture or video, I guess I'm not explaining it very well.

The hoops that spread the hammock & hold the netting & storm shield over the hammock stick up higher than the ridge line, if the ridge line goes from the end knot to the other end knot...this pushes down on the poles, maybe im doing something wrong.... don't know if this helps, its confusing me...LOL

Yes, you are right. You will need to extend the virtual length of the hammock. Easy to do it with a couple of loops of Amsteel. For an NX 250, 10" -12" per end will do. (Changing hammocks tonite, and I just went out to check.)

You already have the pair from Clark shown in your video.

Per my previous post, two closed loops of Amsteel, or try the Clark rope you'll soon abandon from the channels to the rings. Then whoopies from rings to straps. The ridgeline goes between the rings. I think you'll need just 6" loops. Adds 12 inches to the virtual length of 108", and I'll bet you like a ridgeline of about 100".

Thanks DemostiX, I ordered the descending rings from REI that I will add a 6" loop on each end & leave attached to the hammock & from what you say I will attach aprox. a 100" ridgline to them also. The straps will go around the trees & be adjustable through the rings... I think I got it figured out now

Why not the Clark-supplied rings? Clark intended you to hang from them, even if they called them drip rings. Small diameter and stronger with the heavy lips, so I would not hesitate to trust them.

But, the descender rings are nicely priced, so no matter.

If you are not making your own, let me know if you need a single Amsteel soft-shackle to connect a whoopie sling- like ridgeline to one of the rings. Or will you use one at each end to connect the loops, too?
