    Asym Diamond tarp questions

I hung up my Asym diamond today for the first time, and I have no clue what I am doing.

I knew that the tarp would be off-set like a parallogram, I just didn't realize what it would look like set up.

That being said: where on my tarp should the "flaps" be covering?

I lay with my head to the left and my feet to the right. When I first set it up I had the "flaps" or corners coming down so more coverage was "against me", but that just didn't look right. So I flipped it over and pitched it with the coverage "closer" to me....if those descriptions make sense.

So I am wondering...which way is the right way? If there is no right way, which is suggested most often for use?

It should cover you like you lay. More coverage on head area and foot area. I sleep opposite, feet to the left.

If I am standing the head of the hammock, back against the tree, looking toward the foot end tree, the closest triangle point(guy point) is on my right, my head side. In your case, the closest triangle point will be on your left.

Pitched low, it's amazing how well something seemingly too small will, work.

Post #12, Page 2 of this thread. 3rd picture. This tarp is asym diamond and drawn to scale. It's a top down view of the tarp pitched at a 45 degree angle. You can see how at that angle, it almost looks symmetrical. Pic 4 is same view rotated to show the pitch angle.

Thank you so much Nacra! Once I pitched it that way it looked more correct than the other way. Also, when I laid it in it felt more secure that way.

I'll check out the picture, and try again another day. I am sure it is just practice that I need...in addition to the excellent advice I get on this forum
