look man i am not right lol.on my upcoming hangout i will get some of my friends to show me how they use whoopies,figure 9's and how they keep thier quilts in place.i am not giving up yet lolneo

the under quilt looks great on my hammock until i get in and it slips to the right side.i took this pic less than 2 weeks ago.this is my hh non asym ultralite,my hammock gear 20 degree phoenix and my tadpole tarpneo

For many folks, pads take away much of the comfort factor of a hammock, and/or they have major sweat issues. But for years I have been saying: if you are in the minority for whom pads are as comfortable- or very nearly so- you are blessed. Because if you are totally comfy with a low cost CCF pad or some inflatable pad you already have, why on earth would you want to spend big bucks on a down product for which you are always going to have to be on guard against water and wind? Way more so than you would have to be with a pad, which you can also take to ground if it all hits the fan? I can only think of one reason: the 900 FP down UQ, especially a torso model, will squeeze down to a tiny package compared to an equally warm CCF pad.

Neo, you are right in that pads have always worked for you, especially in your double layer Claytor. But glad to hear you are not quickly abandoning the UQ learning curve. Some one will be able to see what you are doing wrong at Merriweather Lewis. I hope someone there has some Dutch Quilt hooks to loan you.

Try an incubator, reading this thread got me thinking about last weeks hang,..I threw my incubator on and did not even bother to adjust it in any direction, it just worked where it landed , and it was fairly cold out too. I do recall my Phoenix had to be just right.

i even saw in one of shugs videos he said it took him a while to trust under quilts.i have been a pad person the whole 10 years i been hanging,i been cold weather hanging 8 years with a pad so i am a veteran pad hanger.i will give it my all before i completely give up on under quilts completely.i was talking with stormcrow.i told him i was a hard core pad user lol.he said i will really be a hard core pad user if i try quilts and end up going back to the pads.so far quilt use even in warm weather has been unsatisfactory with under quilts neo
