3 Days on the AT in VA

Did a 3 day, 30 mile trek on the AT in VA and it was eyeopening. I learned so much in such a short period of time. I will be getting rid of my Marmot Sawtooth +15 as it is way too hot for me. In the upper 20's you will burst into flames in that thing. Found several places to get rid of some gear weight and I am working on that. The ULA Catalyst was great and I saw lots of ULA gear out there. All in all it a great experience and I am looking forward to getting back out there.

Anything else you learned? How was the weather/location? I'm going to be out a lot this season--the first 'hanging' season. I'm wondering what to do as it gets warmer for insulation. Maybe a fleece throw?

The first day out it snowed about 4 - 5 inches where we were and the next couple of day were extremely windy. I thought that having that 15 degree bag would do well but it was too much. I'm looking to go with a 30 degree bag for winter and maybe a 40 for summer. One place that we camped was a little short on trees and I had to use a tree that was a little too small (it caused the hammock to sag) but I got a good nights sleep anyway. I used a Thermarest CCF pad and it worked well. I have heard of folks using a light fleece blanket in the Summer.
