    How long of a strap would you figure would be needed for this baby? General Grant Tree, Sequoia National Forrest.

    Hmmm.... 14ft diameter x 3.14 = 43 ft plus some. It would be quite a chore getting it around as well!

    That tree is HUGE! Had to google search it. 28.9 foot diameter at 4.5 feet above ground gives you almost 91 inches of circumference. That's a whole lotta tree strap!

    umm, Jay, that would be 91 FEET! The other thing about hanging from Gen. Grant? The closest tree to share a hang would make the span about 100 ft. How high would you need to set the tree straps to accomplish 30* and a chair level seat?

    maybe yu can just find a piece of strong bark on the side of one to tie off too,, Besides,,,I think we are all dreaming when it comes to tieing to Gen Grant. I think the Nat. Park Service would have a real fit.!
