East fork is close. Shawnee is really nice. If you want to go south there is, of course, the gorge. There are also a few places in indiana within 2/3 hours driving.
Unfortunately all the nice areas are at least two hours drive. East Fork is an ok alternative when you just want to get out and don't have much time.
I'm going to Eastfork for the weekend, feel free to join me. I'll be there Friday whenever to Monday round noonish. No plans, going to play by ear so to speak.
Firewalker will be meeting me sometime Sat.
When you have a backpack on, no matter where you are, you’re home.
PAIN is INEVITABLE. MISERY is OPTIONAL.
The Gorge.
Hoosier National Forest is pretty nice. There is a park up around Yellow Springs as well, but I can't think of the name right now.
Just went on a weekend trip to Hoosier National Forest last month, they have a great variety of trails, all with some great scenery. Bit of a drive from Cincinnati (2.5 hours, methinks), but definitely worth it.
Nice thread, I'm going to bookmark this one but watch it with some jealousy, I'm flying into Cincinnati on business for next week and won't have a chance to hang.
