talk me out of a blackbird

My last trip has caused me to be in the market for a new hammock. (Ripped my bug netting badly on my Skeeter beater). All I needed was an excuse and now planning to buy a blackbird, but want to be sure I am not missing missing the other one that I don't know about. Weight isn't a big deal so much as durable. I will be using it 20-24 times a year from 2 to 4 days each trip. Thanks

Since you do not care about the minor differences between weights, I would go with the dbl 1.7, for the overall comfort, the lay, and durability of the heavier fabric. It would also be the easiest to resell, should you decide you want the 1.1.

I'm on my 5th Warbonnet. The last one I ordered (being built as we speak) is a custom right zip BlackBird.

    You'll love it.

But then there is the PapaSmurf, danger bird...its so dreamy as well. I have one of those too. But won't talk about it since your asking about warbonnet stuff.

I prefer the blackbird over the travelers that is for sure.
I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.

Still one of the luxury models and time tested for sure. Resale is crazy good, but there are a few other cottages that are producing products that you rarely see see popping up in the For Sale thread.

Many conditions can influence that, but still something to consider. That being said, I've probably only seen one or two BB's at the most that anyone was selling due to the fact that they really didn't like the product, and felt they needed something else.

They really aren't all that heavy when comparing set ups. Just not always light enough for most distance hikers. If I had one in my kit, it would probably get a lot of use, just the same.

+1 > And if you want to break a novice hanger in, I can think of no better way to get them really hooked, other than to plop them down in a brand new BB, with all the bells and whistles

IMO the best 3 options for hammocks right now are 1. Warbonnett blackbird 2. papa smurf's danger bird 3. or a hennessey hammock.

i really like my blackbird and wouldn't trade it for anything right now, that being said if i were up north somewhere and planned on doing some winter camping, the dangerbird comes with the weather shield that could be handy in the cold.

with one of these 3 you can't go wrong.

Apparently you haven't tried a Switchback or Light Hiker.

I've only had one other hammock other than my BB so I am far from an expert. That being said since having my BB I have yet to wish I had bought some thing else.

Ive had a few hammocks. Still ridin my BB. I dont see one being easier to resale than the other. I have a DL 1.1, but think Im going to tye 1.7Sl..just a style thing. But Im not gonna sell my DL1.1 hahaha!

That type of psychology doesnt work around a bunch of gear lovers. Now if you were to say "T@#T!". Then we could talk you out of it.
