    Whoopie sling damage?

Hi everyone, I just had a quick question. I just replaced the thick rope at the ends of my DN with whoopie slings but wasn't sure if I was attaching them to the hammock safely. I just took the whoopie sling fixed end, ran it through the channel and then back onto it's self. The major thing that I'm worried about is the fact that this allows the whoopie sling to clinch onto the fabric since it can freely tighten or loosen and I was wondering if this would be damaging to the hammock. thanks for the help

Once tightened on there it should loosen, unless someone is really messing with it.

I'm assuming this question was about Amsteel whoopies. Even though its very low abrasion I also worried about damage to the fabric from using thinner line... but started using them anyway. Have not used it long enough to really comment on its effect.

Does anyone know if it is safe to use VERY thin line such as dynaglyde in this manner through the end channel?

yea, I'm using 7/64 amsteel whoopies and I guess the major concern was the continual constriction and loosening of the loop that runs through the channel with the way I have it set up as well as the decrease in thickness. It's probably fine and I'm just worried about nothing. If I get too bothered about the thickness issue I might run it thorough the channel twice like the stock rope did to increase the amount of rope that is used in the channel.

Was going to this my self, but was going to use some outer core from some thicker rope as a buffer? Just my thought on it...

Pros: lightweight, fun to make, simple to operate, fun to make... did I mention fun to make?
Cons: None that I have found so far

I use dynaglide whoopies on mine and haven't had any issues with fabric damage so far. If it's a concern for you you can always use a continuous loop of 1/8 Amsteel to run through the channel and then attach the whoopie to that.

I have had amsteel whoopies on my DN for a year or so, I ran it through a second time because the video I watched by whoopieslings.com instructed me to do so, I have had several overnights and countless naps and no damage whatsoever.
